Lusanda Jiya appointed as Acting CEO of Tshiamiso Trust
1 February 2023: Following the resignation of Tshiamiso Trust Chief Executive Officer, Daniel Kotton, Lusanda Jiya was appointed as Acting Chief Executive Officer, effective 1 February 2023.

TSHIAMISO TRUST JOINS EFFORTS TO GET UNCLAIMED BENEFITS TO KZN BENEFICIARIES
Johannesburg, 23 January 2023: The Tshiamiso Trust is joining other stakeholders on a roadshow to parts of Kwazulu-Natal from 23 January – 4 February 2023. The initiative is aimed at enabling access to benefits; allowing eligible claimants in Vryheid, Ulundi and Pongola and surrounding areas to lodge their claims and undergo Benefit Medical Examinations (BMEs) if necessary.

Daniel Kotton resigns as Tshiamiso Trust CEO
7 December 2022: The Board of the Tshiamiso Trust is sad to announce that its Chief Executive Officer, Daniel Kotton, has tendered his resignation and will be leaving the Trust at the end of January 2023.

JOINT EFFORTS TO GET UNCLAIMED BENEFITS TO EASTERN CAPE BENEFICIARIES

TSHIAMISO TRUST SURPASSES R320 MILLION IN MINEWORKER COMPENSATION PAYMENTS
Johannesburg, 7 April 2022: Tshiamiso Trust is pleased to announce that it has successfully paid out over R320 million to 3 598 eligible claimants and their families. This milestone has been achieved in just over a year since the launch of the Trust’s claims management system.

Tshiamiso Trust is pleased to announce that the first batch of more than 100 compensation payments to claimants, beyond December’s pilot payments, has been processed.

Tshiamiso Trust announces initial progress of claims
Johannesburg, 2 March 2021: The Tshiamiso Trust announced today initial progress in the launch last month of the claims process for prospective recipients of benefits for current and former mineworkers who have contracted silicosis or work-related tuberculosis on 82 gold mines in the decades since March 1965.

Claimants warned against fraudsters asking for payment to assist with claims
Johannesburg, 24 February 2021: The Tshiamiso Trust is very disturbed to have heard from our agents in the field of a new surge of fraudulent activity by individuals claiming that they are able to assist prospective claimants of silicosis and tuberculosis benefits, and demanding a fee for their services.

The Tshiamiso Trust was formally established in February 2020, after all legal processes had been completed and conditions met. The seven trustees had the task to establish complex operational structures set down in the Trust Deed that would pay benefits to tens of thousands of eligible beneficiaries over the next 13 years. -
